OASIS presents Charles Dickens, Scrooge, and the Book That Transformed Our Holidays. A Lecture with Dramatic Readings by Historian and Actress Leslie Goddard-Friday, December 18th, 2015, 7:00 p.m.

Few books have shaped our holiday season as profoundly as Charles Dickens’ masterful A Christmas Carol. In this dramatized lecture, historian Leslie Goddard explores how Dickens invented the story of Ebenezer Scrooge in 1843, creating many of the symbols we still use to celebrate the season. Interspersed throughout the program are dramatic readings from the text itself, bringing this entertaining and humorous story to life.
