Worship

++ Currently all of our Sunday worship services are in-person, at 8:45 am & 10:45am through Facebook. Our Saturday service gathers on the first Saturday of the month. ++

Worship is an ever-changing, ever-growing experience at Edgebrook Lutheran Church. At all three of our services – the Spoken Service, the Traditional Service, and the Contemporary Service – we gather to encounter God’s Word, share a meal at the Lord’s table and are sent into the world to transform lives through a saving grace in Jesus Christ and by living the Gospel through service.

Experience each worship service as you discover God in your lives and in the world. At each service, we use music, the arts, or the spoken word in different ways to help discover God in our lives and in the world.

As we prepare for worship, we continue to make safety a priority
and we thank God that positivity rates are decreasing.

With that in mind, our Restore ELC Team is excited
resume onsite worship, as well as faith formation classes.

To maintain a safe worship environment for all, we continue following these protocols:

  • Stay home if you or a family member are feeling sick, and join the live stream on Facebook Live instead!

  • Masks are recommended, but not required. Wear a mask over your nose and mouth at all times, before you step into the building. Masks that are surgical-grade or higher are recommended and available at our worship spaces if you need them. Many may choose to continue to mask for the health and safety of our community, especially those who are immunocompromised, our youngest among us, and those who are not eligible for the vaccine.

  • Maintain a physical distance of 6 feet.

  • Hand sanitizer is provided throughout the church building.

Thank you for making worship as safe as possible for you and your loved ones, and for this faith community. Your participation in creating a welcoming and safe space for all people - especially the most vulnerable in the community - is what it means to belong to the body of Christ. We look forward to worshipping with you this season!

Spoken Service, 1st Saturdays at 5pm

On the first Saturday of month at 5:00 p.m. we gather for a contemplative spoken service on God’s Word. This introspective service guides worshippers to reflect on how to live with meaning and purpose. During this music-free service, Jesus is invited into the quiet moments of our lives so that we might experience His love in an immediate way. This service generally runs 40 minutes in duration.

Traditional Worship Service, Sundays at 8:45am*

On Sundays, our 8:45 a.m. worship service shares God’s saving story through traditional liturgy styles and organ-led hymns. Our Chancel Choir leads the hymn singing and our renovated Reuters organ lifts the spirit with truly magnificent music. The service is typically one-hour long.

Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m., so young ones can participate in the worship or families may want to make use of the nursery, which is staffed by child care givers certified by the Morton Grove Fire Department

Contemporary Worship Service, Sundays at 10:45am*

Our contemporary style worship service in Fellowship Hall is a favorite among young families for its celebratory and family-friendly atmosphere that is inviting and deeply spiritual. Tables are set up so that people can enjoy a cup of coffee while participating in the service. Craft and activity pages are set out on tables for children. The Praise Band (95 Theses) leads on the stage in Fellowship Hall.

*Please note that during the summer (Memorial Day weekend to mid-September), we worship on Sundays at 10am, alternating between traditional and contemporary worship styles at the Sunday service.
