“Because of God’s Great Mercy” is the title of our stewardship emphasis this year.  The scriptural basis of this focus on our stewardship of all that God has entrusted into our care is Hebrews 4:14-16, “Since, then, we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

We begin by proclaiming all that God has done for us, hence the title “Because of God’s Great Mercy.”  God has provided for us in times of struggle so that we may approach God’s grace and receive Christ’s mercy. As we enter our 85th year as a community of faith, this includes generations of faith sharing, worship, service, and outreach to the community and to the world.

We will also consider how generous giving is an important part of every Christian’s life, and how our combined generosity can make even greater things possible through our congregation. How has the gift of God’s great mercy impacted you and your life?

We will think together about how our giving to Edgebrook Lutheran Church is an important part of our Christian faith, and how ELC uses our offerings to do God’s work within the congregation, in our community, and around the world.

Commitment Sunday is October 20th this year. On that day, we will seek to meet the challenge before us by gathering up our pledges for 2025, blessing them, and then celebrating in worship that day as well as an 85th Anniversary and Reformation Day potluck on following Sunday, October 27th.

Before then, we hope you will ask God to help you discern your pledge for the coming year. “Because of God’s Great Mercy” are asking you to do two things.

1.     To increase your giving to Edgebrook Lutheran by at least ½ of 1% of your household income, or your best gift for 2025.

2.     To consider using an automatic funds transfer program for your giving if you are not familiar with this convenient opportunity.

Because of God’s great mercy, there is much in store for us in our next 85 years. We hope that you will join the community in this celebration and this opportunity to give in thanks for all that God has done for you and for use.

This fall, we will use mail, e-mail, and time in worship to share information with you.  Please make a special effort to participate during this important time in our congregation’s life.

Thank you, and may God’s great mercy be with you always.

In Christ,

The ELC Stewardship Team
